The lost day

damn … I thought it was Wednesday.

Monday - had mammoth day of activity. S & C went swimming in the evening

Tuesday - J woke up at 2:30 & didn’t go back to sleep until 5am - I left him with Si at that point and went & did some emailing. C & I went into town at 10 and did the vast majority of our Christmas shopping, J was awake most of the time & I think we all had fun (& lunch in Pret). C bought a cross stitch kit with some of her birthday money & she spent about an hour on that when we got home. She’s really good at it (apparently she’s been practising at GB) and she read the colour key herself :) . Went to chemist about J’s very sore bum - will have to take him to dr if it doesn’t clear up soon :( Managed to cook for us all again.

Wednesday - hoovered in the morning (persuaded J to sleep for 20 minutes - its good we have a small house). Read C some library books (very overdue :( ) & did some sewing with her. Mum came over at lunch time & we fiddled with one of her essays & got it printed; then I helped her write an analysis section on various statistical tests (t-test, Mann-Whitney U, Chi-squared) and parametric vs non parametric data - was a complete mind fuck but was amazed by how much I remembered. C was on the computer most of the afternoon while I fed J & made a veggie Shepherd’s pie for dinner. When Si got home we went to B&Q (got some timber cut) & Tesco (another round of Christmas shopping, got J a car mobile thingie which he grins at :) ). I was half dead by the time we got home.

I thought today was yesterday & we were going to go to Lidl & do some DWN, then go to football tomorrow - not sure now ;)

and …

I made mince pies.

J has just gone to sleep after waking up at 2:30. My back hurts a lot & trying to sleep is depressing. Wish it would stop raining.

So far

Filed under: Getting busy - Administrator @ 2:29 pm

today I’ve:

changed a billion nappies (he’s got a sore bum :( )
washed, dried & packed C’s swimming stuff including finding her goggles (I’ve lost her record book again though :( )
washed all of J’s clothes & blankets
done a massive hand washing load
2 other loads of washing
cleaned the kitchen
cooked soup for tonight
cooked C lunch
put a nappy load on
booked theatre tickets for next year
remembered to feed the cats!
put out the rubbish & recycling
knitted a baby sock!
loaded & unloaded the dishwasher
miraculously - read to Claudia

Still got masses of washing to do & want to wash kitchen floor - J’s will wake up soon. Suddenly feeling much more organised (not counting on it lasting long though ;) )

… and answered some emails, cleaned the nappy bucket, given J a bath :)

And another round up

I don’t have the mental capacity to try and remember what we’ve been up to recently, other than we’ve been busy. J is nearly 6 weeks old & has jumped up from the 25th to 75th centile for weight, he’s grinning away & pretty laid back - the lovefest continues it is all I can do not to spend all day kissing him. C is happy - she’s got parties every week until Christmas :) - she’s doing loads of drawing, craft & stuff on the computer & is keeping busy. I’ll be driving again next week which will be good all round.

Simon was off work on Friday (we’ve all got/had colds - my turn now :( ) and we went out to a sawmill to get some oak cut for various projects - it was much more exciting than it sounds ;) C went to GB and we managed to get some shopping done.

On Saturday my dad came over from Finland to meet J - had a nice lunch, C was very excited. Simon popped around to A&C in the evening & I planned my next knitting project - for C this time. We’re in the early stages of planning a trip over to Finland next spring (early enough for there to still be snow!), Dad has a couple of appartments out there & lots of airmiles. We’ve decided that this year we wanted to to family type holidays rather than HE camps (apart from my brother’s wedding we haven’t been abroad since our honeymoon) and are also planning to go over to France in June - C is thrilled at the idea.

Simon & Claudie went swimming with the crowd down the road this morning. In the afternoon Simon’s parents came to visit - bringing cakes, alcohol & early Christmas presents (always gratefully received ;) ) … that’s about it :)

Jeans are from knitty (Blu), wrap top is from this, knitted in Jaeger Siena. They fitted for about a week, but he looked pretty cool in them ;)

…being normal.

We’ve done quite a lot recently, not sure that I’ll ever get round to blogging it though. Not least was J’s one month birthday - he’s vocalising loads now & the cutest is ‘ung-eeeeeee’ which he shouts a full volume :) (He’s currently asleep in his cot - in the day time gasp! - he was fussy and grumpy from 5am & I couldn’t soothe him so in the end I swaddled him & put him in the cot, 5 minutes of ung-eee-ing & yawning later he was asleep).

On Saturday S took C to ballet & I took J into town to meet Lily & my mum for breakfast & shopping. We used to meet up regularly when L was a baby & I’d forgotten how much fun it is (& how nice it is to do normal things). I took J to get his Imprints done (we didn’t get around to C’s until she was 5 months old, his are tiny in comparison), bought some yarn (I must to a knitted loot post, J has got loads of lovely stuff), birthday presents and a few bits in the sale for J.

(Lily & Jasper - in his pea outfit :) )

On Sunday we had a family trip to Lidl ;) (wrenches, antifreeze, Father Christmas candles, paint brushes & some vests for J), tided up the garden & sorted out all our filing because we’re redoing our wills then got up to date with Lost. I still haven’t finished J’s birth announcements.

Not a particularly productive weekend but it felt very normal :)
