On Daddy’s birthday Mummy, Daddy, Jasper and I went to Bath. We went on the train, we had crisps, water and garlic bread to eat. I played on Daddy’s phone and looked out of the window, Jasper giggled and said ‘Gaga baba’.

When we got out of the station at Bath it was chilly and a bit rainy we walked off to find the Roman baths. On the way we walked past an ice cream shop ‘Yum! Yum!’ I thought; Mummy said I could have an ice cream after lunch and I licked my lips.

We got to the baths and went in and borrowed an audio tour but we thought it was silly and put it back. I had a sticker trail, I had to find the clues and stick the stickers in.

I saw the Roman baths, one was cold, one was warm and one was hot. I saw the spring where the hot water was coming out of the ground. The Roman’s thought the gods were making the water hot, they chucked things into the spring like money, jewelry, plates and pots. They also wrote curses on their enemies and put those in the spring. No-one was allowed to swim in the spring. The temple was Minerva’s and there was a Gorgon on the front and an owl. We saw Minerva’s head which was shiny and gold.

We saw the ruins of the temple, some coffins and we saw the drains where the hot water went back to the river. There were mosaics on the floor with patterns and pictures of animals on. There were steam rooms and the Romans had to keep their sandals on so their feet didn’t get burnt.

Mummy told me not to touch the water, the water was hot and we saw bubbles of gas and steam. It was green and I wouldn’t want to go swimming in there. There were statues of Romans.

When the Romans went to the bath they took their clothes off and had oil rubbed into their skin and scraped off with a stick to get clean. Then they went in the hot and warm rooms and the baths and at the end they splashed in the cold pool!

We went to lunch while I was waiting I was looking forward to having an ice cream and thinking about what flavour I was going to chose. I was really hungry and had jacket potato with baked beans and cheese and some cucumber, and Jasper had some egg.

Then we went to the ice cream shop but we argued about how to get there! We got an ice cream each, Jasper had some of mine which was chocolate with a chocolate straw in.

Then we walked to the clothes museum, it was up a very steep hill! It had lots of old fashioned clothes it, I liked the clothes especially a black dress with red and white flowers on, I also liked some hats. I tried on a corset it was very tight. We went to the shop and I bought a dress up doll with my pocket money.

Then we had a hot chocolate and got on the train home. I was very tired and the train was noisy and stuffed and we couldn’t get a seat so I had to sit on the floor.

My ice cream was my favourite thing.
